Welcome to 96SmokinJoe.com!
Smokin' Joe was a Sprint car driver with the Interstate Racing Accosiation. He retired in 2009 due to a neck injury. This site will remain active for those of you who wish to find out more about the man that is Smokin' Joe.

A Letter From Smokin Joe:

The end of January this year I have decided to hang up my helmet for good.  A visit with the Neurologist and a MRI revealed some serious neck problems, prompting my early retirement.  I want to thank all of my sponsors over the past 33 years I’ve been racing.  Especially Art’s Town Tap in Waterford, WI.  Art has been helping me out for 28 years.  It’s probably one of the longest running sponsorships in the country.  Also thanks go out to Van’s Gas Service in Kenosha, WI.  Scott helped out for about 15 years.  Thanks to all my crew members, namely John Fellner who was at the track and in the garage year round for most all of those years.  My wife Sharon attended nearly every race I ran.  I couldn’t thank her enough for her support.  Last but not least, thanks to all the race fans that came out to watch me and my competitors.  You help to make sprint car racing one of the greatest sports on earth.  Also you helped fund my racing addiction.  I am afraid the withdrawals will be severe.
